How to Set Yourself Apart in Your Niche

To set yourself apart you would need to have a Unique Selling Point and with that USP you can either go for a subpart of your niche that no one is catering for, or you could go for where there is competition and do it different or better than your competitors.
Never underestimate your competition, they are there for a reason and looking at what they are doing right may also give you ideas on what you could do to attract your target audience. In order to have a USP, you don’t really need to reinvent the wheel. You should just use the techniques and tactics that are already there.

Content.
It could be as simple as being able to offer better or fresher content. Talk about topics that your competition isn’t talking about, give opposing opinions to what your competition is speaking about. Create guides and infographics, work on case studies with industry experts, do online classes and webinars.
The content must be important, useful and different enough that your audience will want to share it on your behalf with people. Or create a unique approach that will then become your USP.
Cody Gapare, owner of C-Lash, did not do anything special apart from creating a Lash brand. However, as a breast cancer survivor, she found a niche that created a range for women like her who lost eyelashes during their cancer treatment.
This shows that there is always a smaller niche within a niche. She looked for a group of people that she could relate to and created a specialised product with information that only women who are or have gone through cancer can relate to. Don’t try and create content for everyone and anyone as it becomes vague and general and puts people off because there’s so much content, they don’t want to see mixed in with the stuff they do.
For example, my business and my blog is targeted at black female entrepreneurs and small business owners who need help developing or focusing their marketing efforts to reach their target audience effectively and gain more sales.
I have created a specific section for new businesses looking to start and grow a business in a niche audience as the pandemic has pushed many women to want to start their side hustle.
My content is clear, targeted and has all the information my target audience needs in one place.
Be a better marketer.
Or by simply being a better marketer than your competitors. Being a better marketer doesn’t mean putting your product on sale all the time unless that is part of your business strategy.
Being a better marketer is simply focusing on making sure that your content, products and advertising efforts are always in front of the right audience all the time. If you are able to provide good quality content AND market more effectively you can’t help but succeed.
Being a better marketer includes being able to more effectively drive traffic to your site AND converting that traffic. What will convert the traffic is the value-added content on top of the already great product that you are offering.
