The answer is simple, yes you do. A routine to the untrained ear sounds like something that is so difficult to do. It is not.  it is something that the best of the best (including you favourite celebrities and richest people in the world) have in common. A ritual/routine is something that you do that can optimise you and your day and well as make you so time efficient that you ca do so much more.
Having a routine is important because although each and every day is different, you already have so much to do, tasks that are set in place are easily done (and also more efficiently done) when you give it an allocated time. That way you won't feel discouraged or out of time when life throws you a curve ball.
Why Is Having a routine Important?
Because we are creatures of habit and when we create a routine to maximise our habits for the better, we become better. When you have a routine for you and your business (apply this to family, education or work) , you will be more alert, focused and relaxed when it comes to tackling responsibilities, tasks as well as any unplanned activities or last minute change that happen to the best of us.
Why am I talking about routine?
I remember once, when I worked on a project planning the online strategy for a client, I stayed up for 32 hours straight to meet the deadline. Yes thats a day and 18 hours. I can call that dedication or sheer stupidity as I didn't plan my time effectively to make sure that everything was done accordingly for the deadline of such a large project. Why did that happen to me? I had no set routine or time and procrastinated on this project because I didn't enjoy it much. If I had a set routine, I would've incorporated this project into it and made sure that I worked on it a little bit at a time until I was done.

What Does a Routine Look Like?
A routine and it’s complexity will depend on the person implementing it. It can be just one or two things that last a few hours or it can be several things that last 30 minutes at a time, it is completely up to you. There’s really no definition of what a routine looks like or has to look like. In the end, it's really whatever makes you feel better, more productive and efficient for the job. Here’s some examples just to give you an idea:
Wake up 10 minutes early to write down goals for the day
Here’s another example:
Wake up 30 minutes early
Write down goals for the day in order of importance and the time you need to achieve them
Here’s another example:
Wake up 1 hour early
Read for 20 minutes
Write down some ideas for your business
Drink a fresh fruit smoothie
Write down goals for the day in order of importance
Work on the most important task of the day and then work on the rest
Here is my morning routine:
Wake up at 6.45 am
Pray for 10 minutes
Prepare my lunch
Shower and groom
Review and revise goals for the day
Review preset appointments for the day
Again, crafting a routine can be as simple as you want, but you should test and focus on the things that give you the greatest benefit for the day. This will only come from you testing different elements over time.

How to Create Your Own Routine?
Your routine is just that YOUR routine. It doesn’t need to be complicated and you’ll need to experiment to see what works best for you and most importantly it needs to work for you and you only.
1. Begin with what you think your day needs the most - Start by choosing one thing you think will have the most impact and making it a part of your routine.
2. Add elements as desired - Once you've nailed the first part of your routine, begin adding others in the order you feel most comfortable, and again, slowly implement each one so that you don’t overwhelm yourself or over commit. Overcommitting is the biggest reason people give up on building an optimised routine and go back to old habits.
3. Switch things up and always be testing - If a particular routine isn’t working for you and you’re not seeing or feeling the benefits after giving it a fair chance, don’t be afraid to toss it out or move things around to make it more effective. Over time, you’ll learn what works best for you.
4. Stick with it - Most importantly, once you've discovered what works for you, stick with it. Make it an unwavering part of your morning like brushing your teeth. In time, it will become second nature and you won't even think about it anymore.
