6 Tips to Use Social Media More Effectively.

Social media is fun, annoying, relaxing and infuriating all at the same time. The fact that you have to be on it to reach your audience is great but time consuming at times. Here are my 6 quick & easy ways to simplify your social media tasks.

Don’t try to be everywhere

The latest trend is now TikTok, which I admit is very interesting. But there will always be new social media platforms popping up. Just because they are there, it doesn't mean that you need to be on every single one of them. I recommend starting with the one where you know your target audience is present. Dedicate your time there to build a community and then take that community to other platforms where you will add people to your community. Because if you post inconsistently and mediocre content everywhere, you’re actually not going to grow your followers anywhere.

Don’t feel like you have to post 3 times a day

You can if you want to. The way social media is and how algorithms are changing it isn't just about posting a lot, it is about posting what can provide value to your audience. So quality over quantity, post things that your audience is going to like, comment and interact with (share with others, tag others and send to different groups of friends). If you can only post 3-4 times a week but those posts are jam-packed with great information that your target audience will love, commit to that. Do not overstretch yourself.

Repurpose and reuse content

What also simplifies things a lot is to repurpose and reuse content. By that I mean if you create one video, you can use it in different ways on different social media platforms. For example, one video can be posted on Instagram (2:00 minutes) on Facebook (5:00 minutes) and Youtube (10:00 minutes) it is the same content used on different platforms.

When doing that you can use different sections of the video for different messages to share on your social media. This lessens the pressure to come up with new content. Not everyone is going to see your content on all the platforms that you post it on, so it is not overkill.

You can also use something again that you posted already in the past, this is great for things such as throwback Thursdays and flashback Fridays.

Plan ahead and batch your content creation

Take one day out of your month or your week depending on how you like to do things, create content to cover the platforms that you are on the most. As well as that, look at upcoming holidays and bank holidays to create specific content around that too. Then at the end of the week, or whichever day is suitable for you, take the time to schedule the posts for the coming weeks.

Schedule your posts ahead

You want to schedule your social media posts in advance and not post every day on the fly. This will save you time and energy as you have other things to do than to remember that you need to post on social media. You can use great tools such as Hootsuite, Buffer, Planoly and meet Edgar to name a few.

Use templates for connecting and answering questions

If you get a lot of inquiries or questions about the same topic, for example about upcoming sales or events that you are running, save your replies in your notes on your phone and that way you are always ready to reply. It will make it easier for you to engage with your audience and make sure that you always respond to them too.
