2 simple reasons why you must start your side hustle now

Since the major world pandemic outbreak last year, the world has not been the same. The UK is slowly coming out of what is now the third or the fourth lockdown (I have lost count) and we are all still trying to adjust.

Unless you have a job that has not been hit by the current situation (and to be honest even if you do), a side hustle not only supports your current income but also gives you options to save for yourself, your future and your children (if any).

The panic that hit Britain when we were told to stay at home was nothing short of extraordinary. The whole country was not prepared for this, neither was I, neither were you.

As a matter of fact, Not a lot of people were ok. This is where people like me who are present in the digital world, or larger companies such as GoToWebinar, Zoom and Skype who are entirely digital have done so well.

Now your next question must be, what has that got to do with having a side hustle. As a matter of fact everything. This worldwide pandemic has pushed everyone to make use of the world wide web, and that is where you need to get started on your side hustle, no matter what industries you are in.

We have seen, multi-million pounds productions turn into at-home productions (the Ellen show, Jamie Oliver's cooking show, Wendy Williams show). You can do the same too, use the skills that you already have to get online and make money.

You may create a new side hustle out of frustration and after maybe a few days or weeks it makes you £500. It might not look like a lot but it is a start that shows that there is a demand and a need for what you have to offer. Think about it, taking your skill, earning £500 which can then turn into £1,000 and then more.

The second reason is money breeds independence - you’ll start noticing an unconscious change in your behaviour. You will act differently and become more conscious of your skills, what you have to offer yourself and others. At one point the side hustle may become the business that you always wanted to start. Or it may just stay as a side hustle where you make money to put to the side for the future or for rainy days.

Either way, whichever reasons you may have to start a side hustle, the current situation has clearly shown us that we cannot only rely on one income.
