3 Tips on How to Become a Successful entrepreneur

The term entrepreneur is often thrown around by everyone and everywhere. And please know that an entrepreneur is different from a business person. An entrepreneur is:

"A person who sets up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit."

Whereas a business person is:

"A person who works in commerce, especially at an executive level."

An entrepreneur can be a business person but sometimes a business person does not have the entrepreneurial spirit and is very happy working at an executive level within a business.

Now that this is out of the way here are 3 tips to become a successful entrepreneur

Know your products and who they’re for.

Understanding your target market/ideal clients is crucial for growth along with saving time and money. If you do not know or understand your target audience, you will be marketing and advertising to the wrong people and that is very frustrating especially if your products don't sell.

Knowing your target audience will make it easier for you throughout the lifecycle of your products and services.

Most importantly you will be doing the right advertising for the right people who will have the right mindset to buy into your business.

Stop throwing a “buy” or “sale” sign in everyone’s face.

The more you tell someone they should buy your product versus building a relationship the more you’re going to disinterest your buyers. Build relationships with everyone who will be a stakeholder and an asset to your business.

Building relationships lasts a lot longer than wanting a customer that will come once and never return. Why? Because finding new customers is costly in terms of time and money. An audience that already has a relationship with you is more receptive to you because they are familiar with what you do, what you have to offer and your services.

Whilst building those relationships do not forget to nurture them either.

Your Branding is as important as your brand message

As an entrepreneur make sure that you are aware of why you are going into business. That will be important because it is one of the driving force of you being and staying in business. Be clear on who you are and what you’re conveying. If you are unclear, everything that you do will also be unclear.

From your colours to your logo, to your website everything has to work together so that your customers can recognise you from anywhere.
